So I started 'that thing'...
This week I did something that I had always wanted to do, be an extra in an actual movie that people will see! I was so excited when a Netflix production came to town and they did a call out for background extras.
Now this experience was by no means a glamorous affair, there was a lot of waiting around and not much 'on set' time but I did get the opportunity to see close up some of the main stars of the production and tick this experience off my life goal to do list which was pretty exciting.
The other thing that this opportunity presented besides the chance to sit and read my book for hours uninterrupted (living the dream right there!!), was the chance to chat with some of the other extras and get to know them a little bit and it was really interesting to me that everyone I spoke with has some kind of 'little business' that they were working on as a side hustle.
One of the ladies I met had started producing vanilla paste from her property and the other hosting people on walking tours around our city both such different ventures but the main thing tying them together was the passion in which they were being undertaken by these lovely people.
Whether it was born out of necessity after losing work from the pandemic or just seeing so many other people giving 'something else' a try, it is so exciting to me that so many people now are giving something they love a go.
Festive Fox was something that Mark and I talked about for a really long time. We love all things Christmas and could never find something like our Christmas shirts that you could wear in the tropics. It is so, so, soooooooooo hot in FNQ over the Christmas period traditional Christmas jumpers were just not going to work.
It makes me incredibly happy to see more and more people discovering our Christmas shirts each year and while it absolutely isn't always easy being in small business or even getting started, it is insanely satisfying to actually start 'that thing' that you've spoken about for such a long time and see other people enjoying it too.
